A big "BRAVO!" goes out to Mrs. Smith's F Block class, where almost every student proved they visited the blog. You guys have superb taste in food. For the rest of you, get on board and check the blog daily; it's your job.

In today's class...
- Students were assigned "Words to Live By". See handout for instructions and Mrs. Smith's example. Due Wednesday.
- Students were expected to show evidence that their red binder is organized. Many students received correction and need to make sure their colored sheets are properly placed.
- Students selected topics for their "Two-minute Speech". We may begin these spontaneous speeches next week, and YOU could be first. What will you teach us about your topic?

Enjoy the long weekend.

Welcome to all grade seven students and parents who are visiting this blog for the first time! Please visit this blog on a daily freqency to learn about what occured in class each day. This blog will also provide homework assignments and other useful reminders. I take special care to update this blog to prevent students from saying, "I had NO IDEA what we had due today, Mrs. Smith!"

In today's class, students...
- Received and reviewed the class syllabus. For homework, students should share this syllabus with a parent/guardian and obtain a signature (due tomorrow).
- Received six colored documents listing "Common Core" standards that drive our ELA learning. For homework, students should obtain six "section dividers" (we looked at models in class) and insert their six colored documents into their red binders.

Other reminders:
- Summer reading to be collected on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
- Three paperbacks (The Outsiders, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, and Tuesdays with Morrie) due Tuesday, September 4, 2012.

Are you reading this blog? PROVE IT! Please approach Mrs. Smith tomorrow with a smile, a high-five, and tell her your favorite restaurant and what you order there.
